Hot Topics Other Than Skin - Spring Solar Workshops in Brooklyn

As we whip rapidly through March towards Spring which is just weeks away, a small  group of conservation DIY minded New Yorkers will be gathering at The Commons at 388 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Saturday, March 10 from 9:30AM to 6PM  to learn how to make their own solar panels.  The past few months I have attended energy workshops presented by ReNew with solar being a particularly hot topic. We heard from Alison Kling  and got some great info on CUNY's  Solar Energy Map for a New York City an collaborative project where every roof in this town has been inspected for usable space for solar installation. These two upcoming workshops are being conducted by Tracy Fitz. A 60-watt 12-volt nominal solar panel will be assembled, working with solar cells, “ribbon” wire, tempered glass, silicon encapsulant and silicon sealer. One workshop assembled solar panel will be available to buy at the end of the workshop.  For last minute inquiries as to whether this workshop is filled or not try contacting 347 689 3908 and/ or writing Melissa melissa@thecommonsbrooklyn.org
On April 12 there will be a Solar Clinic held at The Commons.  Limit 39 Persons
The clinic is for the evaluation of solar possibilities on a participant’s building, so please bring your electric bill, a calculator, the footprint and size of the roof. Your rooftop will be found on the  internet as well. There will be a slide show of installations.
